I was convinced my diverticulitis episode (presenting right) was due to the pain meds and opiates taken due to/ during my abortion, I'm finally reading something that makes me feel like I was not imagining things despite doc telling me it was due to a low fibers diet (which isn't my case).

Excellent piece! I was pleased to read that you addressed two lingering myths. (1) All cases of diverticulitis require ATBs and (2) No nuts or seeds! Patients are skeptical when I advise them that they can eat fistfuls of nuts, since they've been told for decades that this puts them in danger of diverticulitis. Well done!

Haha yes! Thank you 😀Even when I started my training I was taught the seeds could get stuck in the diverticula causing diverticulitis! Oh dear
