Thank you the timing is perfect. I’m curious….you never mentioned alcohol?

I’ve just remembered that I recently read an article in The Conversation about “Pill-induced oesophagitis: why your medication could be damaging your throat – and what to do about it”, which relates to inflammation and reflux etc. Just in case it’s also of interest to anyone, the link is: https://theconversation.com/pill-induced-oesophagitis-why-your-medication-could-be-damaging-your-throat-and-what-to-do-about-it-268430

I have no idea how I ended up subscribed to your Substack, but I really enjoy reading your posts. They are simple. They are filled with useful information. And they are a quick read.

Random question - my partner can't stop clearing her throat after brushing her teeth in the morning (night is not an issue). She says it is not a tickle, but more clearing phlegm. It has happened with Tom's and Crest brands - so not sure whether it's a specific ingredient. I think it is some kind of GERD symptom - but curious about your thoughts. Thank you!

Glad to hear you enjoy the newsletter!

Very difficult to give bespoke advice on a platform like this without knowing your partners exact circumstances. Hope you can understand

That makes sense! This, to me, seems so specific that I thought it may have been something you've come across in the past and have a simple remedy. But I can certainly understand not wanting to diagnose issues via a blog comment section. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Can confirm these all work! Apart from giving up smoking which I was unable to do, never having smoked.

I like that all your tips are evidence based. Can you write more about the effect of supplements in acid reflux? My gastroenterologist has me in more than a dozen for that and bloating (mushroom powders, probiotics, prebiotics, fiber powders, and many more + lots of different vitamins + prilosec). Is any of this evidence based? I am not sure is doing much except for the prilosec.

Thanks for nonpharm techniques for better lives. You keep getting in the way of lumping all docs and other HCPs into a single unfair pile. Btw, given many responses to your GLP1 writings, maybe these GLP1 drugs can be repurposed for mental health and addiction interventions.
